Socrates

Socrates (c. 469-399 BCE)

“You are wrong if you believe that by killing people you will prevent anyone from reproaching you for not living in the right way.”

  • This saying, attributed to Socrates, was recorded in Plato’s Apology (section 39d). The translation used here is by G. M. A. Grube, revised by John M. Cooper (Hackett Publishing, 2000).
