Homer

Homer (9th and 8th Century BCE)

“Ah, how I wish rivalry
could be banished from the world of gods and men, and with it
anger, which makes the wisest man flare up and spreads much
sweeter than dripping honey through his whole being, like
smoke.”

  • From The Iliad (Book 18, approximately lines 100-110) by Homer, translated by E. V. Rieu and revised by Peter Jones (Penguin Classics, 2014).
