The Bhagavad Gita

The Bhagavad Gita (c. 2nd century BCE-2nd century CE)

“The person who
casts away all desires,
who moves away from clinging,
who has no idea
of ‘mine’,
and who has no idea
of ‘I’,
that one comes to peace.”

  • This quote is from discourse/chapter 2, verse 71 of the Bhagavad Gita (a Hindu scripture included in book 6 of the epic poem, the Mahabharata). The translation used here is by Laurie L. Patton (Penguin Classic, 2014).
